TLM Level 3 Award in All Terrain Telescopic Handler Operations

Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of All Terrain Telescopic Handlers is Ofqual regulated.

The course is designed for people who require skills and competence in the safe operation of all terrain telescopic handlers, in line with HSE guidelines. As a vocational qualification it is aimed at those wishing to gain a new skill, to better their employment opportunities, or renewing their current qualification.

 

Qualification

On successful completion of the course you will be receive a Nationally recognised 
Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of All Terrain Telescopic Handlers.

Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)

  • The need to train and legislation              

  • Maintenance and refuelling procedures  

  • Pre-use checks 

  • Factors affecting stability  

  • Motive controls 

  • Hydraulic controls 

  • Use of all modes of steering

  • Manoeuvring in open and confined areas and over varying terrain 

  • Stacking and de-stacking at different levels in open and confined areas 

  • Load weight assessment and load moment indicator 

  • Safe use of attachments (if applicable) 

  • Lorry loading and un-loading 

  • Post operative checks and close down

  • Assessments

Duration

The duration will take into consideration prior knowledge: 

  • Experienced Operator - 8 Hours Guided Learning - including classroom and physical assessment plus 3 hours home study.

  • Novice - 16 Hours Guided Learning - including classroom and physical assessment plus 3 hours home study. Novice timings are a minimum depending on the number of trainees to a maximum of 3.

Group Size

As the teaching and assessment is tailored to the individual the group size will not exceed 3 candidates. (Courses will comply with current Covid-19 Government guidelines).
