TLM Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work

The Level 3 Award for First Aid at Work is designed to support professionals in moderate-risk workplaces in demonstrating their understanding in first aid. Covering the knowledge needed to be a successful and productive first aider in Adult Casualties only.

The course prepares the candidate to assess incidents and respond accordingly.

 

Qualification

Unit 1 – Emergency First Aid at work (1 credit).

Unit 2 – First Aid at work (2 credits).

Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)

Unit 1

• Understand the roles and responsibilities of a First Aider             

• Understand how to access an incident  

• Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty 

• Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally 

• Be able to manage a casualty who is choking

• Be able to manage a casualty with external bleeding

• Be able to manage a casualty who is in shock

• Be able to manage a casualty with minor injuries

 

Unit 2

• Be able to conduct a secondary survey

• Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with  suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints

• Be able to provide first aid to casualty suspected head and spinal injuries

• Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries

• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with burns or scalds

• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury

• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning

• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis

• Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness

Duration

Assessment methods will include Coursework, E-assessment, Portfolio of Evidence and will involve 21 Hours Guided Learning plus home study.

The group size will not exceed 8 candidates. (Courses will comply with current Covid-19 Government guidelines).
