Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of Excavators is Ofqual regulated.

The course is designed for those who require skills and competence in the safe operation of excavators. As a vocational qualification it is aimed at those wishing to gain a new skill, to better their employment opportunities, or renewing their current qualification.

 

Qualification

On successful completion of the course you will be receive a Nationally recognised 

Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of Excavators.

Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)

• Understand the legislation and personal duties for excavators

• Employers and Employees duties              

• Code of practice for excavators

• Describe the inspection, maintenance and servicing requirements

• Demonstrate an understanding of the safe working practices applicable to excavators

• Describe hazards and how to reduce the potential for accidents

• Understand safety signs and signals

• Describe how to safely operate excavators

• Describe the lifting, reaching and tilting functions

• Safely manage load handling on excavators

Duration

8 hours guided learning - 10 hours total.
Assessment Methods: Coursework, E-assessment, Portfolio of Evidence
Competence-based assessment of coursework using a portfolio of evidence and supported by a free optional cloud-based evidence management system.
