TLM Level 3 Award in Forklift Truck Operations / QAN 603/6690/4
Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of Forklift Trucks is Ofqual regulated.

The course is designed for people who require skills and competence in the safe operation of rider-operated lift trucks, in line with HSE guidelines. As a vocational qualification it is aimed at those wishing to gain a new skill, to better their employment opportunities, or renewing their current qualification.

 

Qualification

On successful completion of the course you will be receive a Nationally recognised 

Level 3 Award of Professional Competence in understanding the principles, practice, safe use, and operation of Forklift Trucks.

Course Content (inclusive but not limited to:)

  • Current health and safety legislation as it affects forklift trucks

  • The need to train & legislation             

  • Rated capacities - stability and instability

  • Videos covering Lift Truck Operator Training

  • Introduction to the machine

  • Control familiarisation

  • Daily checks / Refuelling procedures

  • Battery charging & simple battery maintenance

  • Steering procedures open and confined areas (unladen and laden)    

  • Load weight assessment

  • Load handling

  • Stacking and destacking procedures

  • Bulk stacking / destacking

  • Operating in Industrial Racking

  • Handling awkward loads & vehicle loading / unloading

  • Practical skill assessment

Duration

The duration will take into consideration prior knowledge: 

  • Experienced Operator - 8 Hours Guided Learning - including classroom and physical assessment plus 3 hours home study.

  • Novice - 16 Hours Guided Learning - including classroom and physical assessment plus 3 hours home study. Novice timings are a minimum depending on the number of trainees to a maximum of 3.

Group Size

As the teaching and assessment is tailored to the individual the group size will not exceed 3 candidates. (Courses will comply with current Covid-19 Government guidelines).
